Birthday Fun!

My son turned one this past weekend, sharing some photos from his party. Everything was made by hand by me, including his cake, cake pops and cookie favours. His nursery is all done in Owls, so I used an Owl theme for the party!

Tissue Pom Owls - I had these throughout the house.

    HOOOT!!! Tissue Poms, and owls!

The Birthday Boy Himself!!

I made the birthday boy a birthday hat out of cardstock and ribbon!

We had this birdcage from our wedding (we used it as a card box!)
I used it for Gregory's Party favours, OWL cake pops!!
Red Velvet Cake shaped into an owl, dipped in chocolate, with gumpaste eyes,
a royal icing beak and fondant wings!
These can be made to order for about $3.00 a piece.

The tags read: Gregory's First Birthday! Thank Whooo?! Thank You

I also made Owl Sugar cookies as favours.. mmmm!!
Vanilla cookies with royal icing!

Handmade Banner: "Look Whoooo's Owl Grown Up"
I got inspired by another blog, and decided to put my own spin on it, 12 flags, one for each month since he was born with pictures.

aaaaand finally, the CAKE! I had a blast making this!!! Bottom tier is a vanilla cake, filled with strawberries and vanilla buttercream. Top Tier is a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream. The owl is made of rice krispie treats covered in fondant.
